Artist statement
*Fire Above the Aspens* began as an original photograph I created at Poncha Pass, Colorado. What drew me to the scene was the remarkable meeting of seasons: brilliant golden aspens covered the mountainsides while fresh snow defined the peaks above them. Mist moved quietly through the valley, and the entire landscape was illuminated by an intense orange and rose-colored sky.
I composed the photograph to lead the viewer from the rocks and autumn vegetation in the foreground, through the layered forests and mist, and finally toward the snowy summits. The image was slightly enhanced with AI-assisted editing to refine its visual presentation while preserving the composition and character of my original photograph.
For me, this image expresses what makes the Colorado mountains so compelling. Light, weather and season can transform a familiar landscape into something that exists for only a few moments. I created *Fire Above the Aspens* to preserve one of those moments and share it through Paradise Canvas Prints.
